what does she see?
Now I have given my thoughts on her hearing, what about her sight?
This is more complicated, in that she is the only one involved. One is rather trespassing on her territory here. But some insights may provide carers with greater opportunities to help.
She does lots of doodling typically using both ends of a desert spoon and typically on sheets taken from a napkin. She makes no visible marks on the paper. She will sometimes mumble, maybe approval or success.
This operation often takes place just after food has been delivered to her. She does go back to the food later. So this is obviously a snub to the server.
If you ask what she is doing, you get gobbledegook, probably as a snub. She looks totally committed to the operation.
Now the whole operation makes her look mad. But I think it is just exhibiting disdain for others. It is her two finger salute to the world, or rather us.
I think the correct action is basically to treat it as just a very minor quirk of hers that can safely be ignored. A sensible response might be 'give us a shout when you are finished'. That is, don't give her any success or attention.
If she starts talking to you about it, just say you don't understand what she is saying. Ie it's all mumbo-jumbo to you.
Now I am writing this to help her. She is not doing herself any favours with this behaviour.
