Are the staff too polite?
The inmates here are surprisingly busy and plain rude to the staff. The staff are most likely to be taught to pretend to ignore it. Maybe the inmates were like this when life was normal, and they are just continuing to be rude etc.
Anyway, I reckon that this is a poor strategy, and it is better to just be honest and open about your views of this
type of behaviour. So I am being rather forthright in my approach. If I don't understand them, I tell them directly. If they are rude or over demanding, I will tell them. If they are hallucinating, I will tell them that I have not the faintest idea what they are either doing or talking about.
Clearly it surprises most of them, as the staff never say a typing like that.
Whether it could change them, I do not know, but I find it interesting that some of the quieter folk seem to enjoy it if they overhear it.
I wish the staff were not quite so kindly.
