economy and evolution
economy and evolution
how do we get rid of the bankers?
I somehow think that bailing out the bankers, as opposed to the banks, is fundamentally wrong. One genuinely
needs a regular set of crises to rid oneself of these failing species.
Which in turn leads one to think that Politicians / leaders should not actually be attempting to get a smoothly
growing economy ( whatever that means), but rather a bit more of a roller coaster just enough to kill off some of the
worst species. Now that is not to say one wants a continual series of boom and bust, but certainly something
a little more dangerous and species threatening than at present.
Maybe the real legacy of Bush is that he indeed did lead to the demise of his species, rather earlier than would
otherwise have happened, and I do not begrudge him having a long and prosperous retirement, in order to
continuously remind ourselves of these dinosaurs.

e = mc squared almost.
e = mc squared almost.
following on the idea of mass being a hole in the sea of higgs, I thought that it might be fun to see what
creating a mass, ie a hole would do. I assume that the sea would get pushed out at the speed of light, and
therefore the energy would be equal to the volume/mass times c squared times a half.
Obviously I am a bit miffed at the half.
The difficulty is that the hole itself has potential energy as well. getting rid of the hole creates the opposite
scenario, with the same half energy. So wave your hands and add the kinetic energy and the potential
energy together and get e = mcc.
well its a nice thought.

Alarm clocks and daylight saving
Alarm clocks and daylight saving
It seems to me that daylight saving is completely silly, in that it assumes that man cannot adjust to
different times without government help. Was it something about the poor farmer who was loosing
morning hours of sunlight? If you left it up to the individual organisations to set their own times of work,
which might vary with season, you might achieve rather more optimisation ( of sunlight, energy, traffic space,etc ).
Now there are certain bits of technology that might be missing to help this along.
I rather fancy the idea of getting up at day break each morning, and thereby maximise my use of the
sun. I need an alarm clock that goes off at daybreak. Or maybe half an hour before daybreak say.
Now your alarm clock needs a GMT clock, a GPS system, a timer and some simple software. This
should not be much hassle.
I would set my clock to go off 15 minutes before the local sunrise.
Maybe fishermen would like one to go off according to the tides? use moonbreaks?
It seems to me that reinventing the alarm clock, might be a great deal cheaper than all the messing
around people do with changing the clocks twice a year.
feel free to use this idea however you want, but send me at least a working model.
While you are at it, link it to your calendars as well.
