One rather assumes that you can only do things in pairs.  So you can create a pair of say positron and electron.

danger .. man's imagination

For so long the image and naming of fundamental particles has been very anthropomorphic in nature.

The classic case is spin of a particle such as the electron.

It would have been better to have terms which clearly were  meaningless in the context.  This can be quite difficult  as our methods would be to take examples  from our experience or preconceived ideas.

And you don't want to tempt people to think they can add new or intermediate versions.

Wind speed

 I guess one might think that this is a simple concept, indeed a simple number or vector, but I suspect that it is rather full of definition and environment problems.  I am thinking of things like ...

- direction.  does it have to be horizontal component? stable? spacial average? away from large objects in the environment? time averaged? time averaged?

- speed.  filtered atmosphere? weighted average? atoms only? linear motion? spirals?

- linear average, with no horizontal screws

- what weighting do you give to individual particles ( their energy?)

- do you include neutrinos? photons? 

- do you have a standard height above ground?

-does it have to interact with a physical object ( propeller )


My only idea was to release a puff of standard powder into the air, and take a photo of it after a fixed time.  This might allow one to see what a complex idea 'wind speed' really is.
